Cessna R182 G-BOWO for sale on behalf of owners (we are the maintenance company that has looked after it for the last few years). This aircraft has been advertised for a couple of years now in the pilot magazines but it now really needs to go hence the more realistic asking price. The owner no longer has a medical and so is paying to keep the aircraft in good order and yet cannot ever use it again.

This is an incredibly well equipped R182 with 2 Garmin 430s and a Sandel digital HSI. All the avionics work as does the autopilot. The observant of you will notice that in the picture there is only a Mode C transponder fitted. This is another reason for the lower asking price. If a high enough offer is received the current owners are happy to negotiate getting a Mode S transponder fitted as a condition of the sale or you can purchase the aircraft at £45k (or best offer!) and get one fitted by your maintenance firm. Mode S is only mandatory where there is a legal requirement to carry a transponder which translates to IFR in controlled airspace. It is a bit of grey area but ICAO does not recognise IMC as IFR and therefore you could say that you are only going to need Mode S if you hold an Instrument Rating and plan to use it!

The retractable 182 is one of the most versatile light aircraft in the world. It will easily operate from short rough airstrips (I used to operate one from short high bush strips in the Rocky Mountains) and stalls at a mere 37knots whilst it will cruise at 75% at just over 140knots burning around 43litres/hr. This actually means that the fuel cost is less in this to a specific destination than in a 152 as it gets there allot quicker! This one does have a JPI fuel monitor installed so leaning is simple.

The paint is still good but a couple of patches of light surface corrosion have started to appear which we have dealt with on this Annual. The interior is immaculate grey leather with red trim. It is very tastefully done and looks as new.
There are pictures of the aircraft on the GINFO page and also on airliners.net which can be found here: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?cx=partner-pub-8297169501225184%3Aa05n2n-tzky&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=G-BOWO&sa=Submit&search_active=1&search=&sheadline=&search_field=datedesc&submit=&siteurl=www.airliners.net%2F&ref=&ss=1136j283166j8

With a small amount of digging you will find the recent colourful accident history of this aeroplane. It had a nose leg collapse which shockloaded the engine in 2006. The engine was shockload inspected at this time and the propeller replaced for a brand new unit. Then in 2007 it landed with a failed undercarriage leg which damaged the horizontal stabalizer. This was replaced for a complete new horizontal stab and new port elevator. No further damage was caused in this accident. This accident history puts allot of people off but it shouldn’t. The repairs have been carried out and recorded in the log books and the damaged components replaced for brand new parts.

Cessna recently brought out an SL to address failures of the gear pivot assemblies. This calls for the pivots to be removed and sent for NDT. This inspection has been satisfied on this Annual. The pivots have passed and this a one-time inspection so no further action is necessary.

Recently the aircraft has had allot of money (around £20k in the last 2 years) spent on it. This includes:
New spinner.
New oil cooler.
New alternator.
Port fuel bladder tank replaced for new (stbd was done a couple of years ago).
Prop overhauled this Annual.
All seat belts replaced 2012 (lifed item).
Back up vac pump replaced 2012 (lifed item).
All vacuum system hoses replaced 2012 (lifed item).
All engine flexible hoses replaced 2012 (lifed item) Teflon hoses fitted.

The hours are as follows:
TT airframe: 2789:35
TSOH engine: 598:50 (shockload insp was at 490:55)
TTSN prop: 102:35 TSOH: 0

The aircraft is in the final stages of Annual Insp and ARC renewal which we aim to have completed in about 2 weeks from now (IE mid April). This means it will be sold with a year to run on both ARC and Annual.

We are happy to quote for continuing to maintain the aircraft for the new owner and can also offer conversion training on site if you have had a complex sign off or differences training at a local school if needed.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Any inspection is welcome (it is all opened up for the next week or so) and serious buyers are welcome to come and fly it when it is released to service again. We are based at Defford/Croft Farm which is in the flight guides and on the CAA charts and is just North of Gloucestershire Airport. Viewing is by appointment only as we are not always here!
