I bought a pair of these PLB`s , one as a spare , and now have use for only one.
This unit has never been used or registered so is New - ( old stock ) with 3 years battery life left(user replaceable ).Note; battery life is mainly determined by the ammount of testing carried out , if you limit your testing to just prior to your flight/ expedition , as I do , they will last a lot longer .
Security tape is intact - (broken on deployment ) .

It is probably the best, if not the best , PLB on the market today , retail new at over £ 400 + p+p
It is the ultra modern 406 MHz COSPAS/SARSAT system with G.P.S. - which realy is a MUST ! with self test , light and a floating neoprene case with lanyard. Waterproof - but requires a sealed container if Scuba Diving to any depth - only sensible , containers available from Dive Shops or dive websites.
G.P.S. enables your position to be pinpointed to less than a 100 Mtrs. in most circumstances, without this facility, the search area is measured in SQUARE MILES !
It also has a HOMING DEVICE on 121.5 MHz., but with GPS, this feature is largely irrelevant - necessary with none GPS equiped PLB`s however.
Very simple to test and use with clear instructions on the back .
Very simple to register , FREE ! , with the MCA - Maritime Coastguard Agency , also simple procedure if you sell or pass the unit on , all via the Internet or by post.
This is a legal requirement - for security and your safety !
Since 2012 , you can use these on land , not just at sea or over water ! so great for ALL your expeditions ,watersports , mountaineering ,scuba diving , fell walking , mountain biking , jetsking , etc., not just for flying.
A clear view of the sky is all that is required for a satelite fix , as per normal GPS , you are Not reliant on a mobile phone signal !
Next to your lifejacket ( Manual Operation ! ), I would say it is the next most important item of your aviation / boating survival kit.
